  1. I don't like that the characters are not really expressive and are to dumb.
I think that nailer will end up in a love triangle.
There is not really any quotes

  2. I like that the author is putting the characters in many situations but I don't like that it isn't very descriptive. it's hard to tell what they are feeling and that takes away from their personalities.
I predict that Nailer is going to like Nita but something will go wrong.
there are not many quotes that anyone can really elaborate on. The sentences are kind of choppy I guess.

  3. I like how all the characters in the book are all very different, they all have different personalities and they all think very differently. I predict that that Nailer will start liking the rich girl but Nita will start liking him. In the book there are not many quotes. The sentences are short and not very descriptive.

  4. I like this book so far because it is very descriptive and detailed. It really paints a picture of the settings and the world around them. I like the choice to set it in this kind of environment because it can somewhat relate to how many people around the world live. I like that the characters have different yet somewhat similar personalities due to the fact that they are all fighting for the same thing. I do not like Nita because she acts as though they didnt just save her. Although this character bothers me it doesn't mean I think she should be left out. It is well planned in adding her to cause conflict in the book. Nita brings suspicious offers and dangerous situations to come. I predict that by saving Nita they get themselves in lot's of trouble with her people. I am guessing saving her will come back to bite them when or if her "crew" arrives. On page 86 Pima says "It's all luck, Nailer. Just luck and the fates. It's all we got." This quote accruately describes their situation. They just have luck, every day they hope for a lucky strike so they don't have to struggle anymore. I chose this quote because it is important to know how hard their life is in order to undertsand how hard the events that happen are to them.

  5. Some of the stuff I have enjoyed about this book is how their society has developed and how they live, as well as the fact that the challenges they have encountered have been difficult and challenging for them; physically and morally. A prediction about what will happen is this book is that they will have a bad encounter with Richard Lopez. There honestly aren't any good quotes in this segment of the book.

I thoroughly enjoyed these chapters however I failed to see what the main conflict in the chapter was. It seemed as if the author took a bunch of small ideas and crammed them together without any resolution. It jumped between ideas at a very fast pace. However, it can be forgiven because of the great writing and the fact that this is the authors first book.

"People said family was important. Pearly said it. Pima's mom said it. Everyone said it. And Richard Lopez, whatever else he was, was the only family Nailer had left."(7.75) I like this quote because it demonstrates that even though Richard is not a good father, Nailer still values him as a part of his family cause Richard is all he has.

  8. This book is really well-written, Paolo does a great job of immersing the reader in the story. At some points the main conflict of the chapter is unclear and it feels like we're being thrown in among several different things at a time. Sometimes the author would write the way his characters talked if that makes any sense (i.e. instead of "the fire crackled" he would write "fire crackled" at the beginning of a sentence). There aren't any notable quotes in this section of the novel.

  9. I am enjoying this book a lot more because the plot is finally picking up and starting to get interesting. Before, it was hard to really get into it because the events weren't exciting and the details were very limited. Now that we are approaching the main event, I find this book easier to enjoy.

Ship Breaker is mainly dialogue and because it has yet to reach the climax I am finding that there are no quotes in this book that really resonate with me or mean anything. I hope as the story continues there will be more meaningful texts.
