For week three we read 14 to 21. In these chapters I quite enjoyed the events that occured. I liked how Nailer now has to go on a journey to find Nita because it adds to the story and builds his character. I didn't like that Tool decided to leave when things started getting rough, throughout the previous chapters they have counted on Tool for protecton and now they can't. When the captain says that shes probably on the ship Ray but I am expecting that she is on Pole Star because it's the more complicated ship for her to be on. "He was limbo." This quote is a good one because he just put himslef in a position without a home. This sentence sums up his journey and situation, he is on the road and his only goal is to get back Nita but what after?
So far in this book I have enjoyed Nailer's character development as he journeys with Tool and Nita, and how his experiences have changed him. I am looking forward to seeing how his relationship with Nita develops, as well as how she adapts to Orleans. I predict that Nailer and Nita's relationship will get really complicated soon. "Killing isn't free. It takes something out of you every time you do it. You get their life; they get a piece of your soul. It's always a trade." I chose this quote because it envelops Nailer's development as a person and killing ignited conflict inside of him.
--Tavian-- I enjoyed the majority of the chapters in this book. However, I found several parts of this book very confusing and disorganized. I was very confused when Nita was introduced because they introduced her under a completely different name with a different family. I felt that there was no real reason to do this and that it was just filler. When she finally did tell the truth, the explanation was very confusing and throughout of the chapters I read, I was very unsure of why they didn't just kill her and take the gold she had on her.
"I won't let you die, son. Don't you worry. We'll get you taken care of. You're my blood and I'll take good care of you." (12.119-120) I liked this quote because it demonstrates that Richard Lopez is still very caring over his son. Even though is a very bad person, I enjoy that he still values having a family that he can care for, even if he isn't doing that well at it.
