  1. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It left enough questions that I am looking forward to reading the next two books. Some members of my group were opposed to Nailer kissing Nita, and thought that it added nothing to the plot. I tend to disagree, as that one awkward moment could lead to some romance and many plot points in the next books. My prediction is that Nailer and Nita will have a growing relationship in the next books. "The only thing family ever got me was a slap upside the head." (page 273) I chose this quote because it highlights what I believe to be a major theme in this novel; Family. I believe that this book can teach us that your family can be whoever you want it to be. Sometimes family is just those we surround ourselves with, not those whose blood we share.
